A Nepalese student injured in the acid attack

A Nepali student studying at a local secondary school in Hong Kong has been caught in the acid attack by unidentified people at Jordan night market on Saturday night, reports say.

Kamala Thapa, a Form Four student studying at Pak Kau College was injured in the attack while on her way to home. She was returning from her cousin's home on Saturday. He clothes are said to have been burnt in parts and she has got injuries on her face and legs. "She was caught in the acid attack while returning from her cousin's home." Her uncle Mr. Hemraj Thapa said. She was admitted to Kwong Wah Hospital on Saturday night and has been discharged on the same night. Her conditions are reported to be normal.

The acid attack occured at around 9 PM on Saturday night at Temple Street, Jordan, one of the busiest market places in Hong Kong. Scores of foreign tourists and local people were injured by the sudden attack.

According sources, all the injured patients have been discharged from QE hospital after treatments. Their condition is said to be normal.

Hong Kong Police have arrested a young man said to be in his 30s in suspicion of the attack. This is the first time Hong Kong police have arrested a suspect after several such attacks. The first of such attack happened last year at Mong Kok, another most busiest market place in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong is considered to be the safest places in the world but the acid attacks in recent days are tarnishing Hong Kong's image as one of the safest tourist destinations.

More than hundred people have been injured from the acid attacks that started last year.
